On the Curb near 66th and Pope

After a long time of uncontioustess I finally wake up lying on a curb not knowing where. I can remember anything anymore, not my name who I am, where I'm from, how I got here... Nothing. Its a really weird feeling knowing you should remember stuff but you don't, It's like someone cut up your memories. Its weird not knowing where I am, somehow I get the feeling I ussually knew where I was...

I slowly stand up and start to look around for anyone or anything.

Anna had decided to take a walk to get rid of her irritation she had for no reason really. Today was just one of those days where everything just seemed to piss her off. She had always wondered why she woke up this way. Maybe it was because she never ate all that much or because she was always alone. She figured those two were very important reasons of why she was like this now. Though nothing could really prove it right now. Not unless she confessed about how she felt most of the time to a doctor or someone like that. Anna though didn't think that was all that good. Her emotions and feelings were better kept locked inside of her. She turned the corner and saw someone standing there looking around. She felt as though she knew him from somewhere, wondering why that could be. It wasn't until Anna saw his face that she recognized him from the bar she went to one time for that white russian. "Hi there." She said facing him. "I believe we're met before. What are you doing just standing there?"

"Well I'm guessing even you would know more about me standing. I seem to have hit my head and can't remember a thing... A shame really not know if you know such a pretty lady."

She has a pretty face but I get nothing from looking at her, no memories. I guess that could mean three things.
I don't know her.
I may have known her but not that good.
Or I do know her and getting my memory back works way different than i'd remember.

Damm really wish I could recall something from my past. I suddenly realized she could be hostile... now where did that come from? I felt my self check for a weapon on my belt in a reflex. I guess that could say something about my past... not really a reassuring thought. Well I guess it be smart to find out what she wants before doing anything irrational...

Anna smiled a bit. He was still like before in that nature. "I might. I saw you in a bar not too long ago. Seems like you took care of the fights that tend to break out. You're name is John s I've heard the bartender call you a couple of times." That time in the bar and meeting him was clear to her now. Was like it only happened yesterday. She remembered there was a joke the tender said that she didn't really get but she wasn't the only one who didn't. The only thing she couldn't really understand was why he left the bar as he had that time. "Does that help at all? If not I could bring you to the bar we met in. You're sure to remember something there."

John... so thats my name, at least thats something. take care of fight that break out? how does she mean that...?

"Well Seeing as my name doesn't even ring a bell, I doubt a bar would. Besides I'd like to take a pretty girl to some place nice, even though I don't know a thing about this city."

"Oh really? I think you knew the bar very much. I wouldn't put it pass you to not remembering anything from being inside there for a little while." Anna said to him avoiding what he said before. She had never really gotten into the whole dating thing, mostly because she never thought it was useful. Her heart would of been broken way too many times if she did and she didn't want it too. Staying cold and cruel would be the only way to get what she really wanted.

I guess I can take a hint, with her ignoring my comment. Shame though its really pretty girl, and my only link to reality at the moment...

"Well seeing as your my only lifeline with... well my life, and you think the bar was important for me I guess we can take a look. Can't remember anything else I should be doing. the last sentence I said with a sheepish smile on my face, trying to apologize for something I can't help. I wonder why she's taking this so smoothly... me loosing my memory that is, Somehow somewhere i get the feeling people usually question a persons credibility when they say they lost their memory's.

"Although I don't want to keep you from doing what ever it is your doing here."

Anna saw the smile on his face and raised an eyebrow for a small moment. "I wasn't doing anything important really. Just taking a walk to cool off some steam." She gestured for him to follow her as she started to walk in the direction the bar was in. "Hope you don't mind a walk. The bar is a few miles from here." As she remembered from the one and only time she went there. Anna was glad she had a good memory. Kept her from forgiving people who in her opinion didn't deserve to have her forgiveness which was practically everyone.

An eyebrow raise after me saying I couldn't remember anything I should be doing... what could that mean...? maybe something I can ponder about during the walk.

"Well... I hope its not that far, there's some evil looking clouds coming towards us. I would hate to get into a storm in a place I don't know where all the hiding spots are."

Seeing as the pretty girl from which I haven't caught the name yet was a few feet away during the short talk, and now walking away from me, I had to run a little bit to catch up and be able to walk beside her.

"So... can you tell me something about how we met?" I asked her while walking, I hope it wasn't anything embarrassing or with some lame joke about a Lada or anything. wait where did that come from? Whats a Lada? AAAAAAAAH! I shook my head in confusion.

Anna looked up as she walked seeing that there were some dark clouds coming over head and then nodded after him when he had caught to her. They looked very dark and coming quickly over head. If they didn't hurry it would be pouring on them soon with cold rain. That Anna could not handle. She hated the cold but yet she was in a way free to do what she wanted and still in a city that has snow in the winter time. She must be crazy. "Well, it was in the bar. I came in to familiarize myself with it and ordered a white russian. You were next to me at the time and asked how I was doing. I said good and we started talking. The bartender, Bob I believe his name was, mentioned something about a joke and only he got it..." She explained as they both walked. Anna saw the clouds getting closer and started to walk a bit faster in order not to get caught in the rain.

Bob... Bob... "bob" I said almost whispering trying out the sound... nope nothing... cool name though.
"Well in any case I apologize for the bad joke, even if I can't remember.
I think we need to find some shelter soon though the clouds are coming really close now and I doubt I like walking a cold stream of rain."

I guess I should be glad I met this girl instead of some hobo, with her help I'm now starting to put together some pieces of the puzzle. It appears this bar was something important, seeing the fact I know the bartender and my size I'm gonna go with me being a bouncer there...

"Uhm... What's your name? or do you want me ot keep calling you pretty lady?" I said with a small smile on my face. Seems only fair though, she knows my name as well.

"Don't worry about the joke. Not like you got it either. Bob was the only one who did and he's not telling anyone what it means." Anna said with a shrug of her shoulders. She wasn't very humorous and well she just didn't care. Grew up not caring either. "Yeah I don't think we should wait any longer. The buildings will become private if we keep on walking now." After looking ahead and only seeing restaurants occupying the buildings on the street, she decided to just pick one and walked up to the door. "It's Anna." She said with a slight smile.

"well its nice to meet you Anna... again" I say after following her towards the retaurant.
"I hope they don't serve those really small haut couture snacks" I wonder how I still know some unimportant little fact, yet other things like my name are a complete blank for me. Up untill Anna told my name that is, still just seems some ordinary name with not much memorys attached to it.
I now start to search my pockets more carefully, can't go to dinner and let the lady pay now can we.

In my left pocket I find bullet... well that can't be good news. In my right pocket I find a couple of coins and a bit of paper. This is all very confusing... its like someone ordered a hit on me, the bullet, yet the man couldn't do it and tried to give me a message to stay dead. Seeing as he left money, the bullet that was ment for me, and nothing that could point to my old past. Wait... where did that thought come from... still it could be a possibility to remember. Oh well atleast I found some money to pay for dinner.

"Soo... you know anything thats good? My likes and dislikes for food seems to have ran away with my memorys"

"Nice to meet you again too John." Anna didn't care all that much but she figured having an acquaintance is better than having an enemy. She has learned a lot from being in the government though it was such a short time. They had many enemies, the whole group of people against what the government was trying to do to make this world better. The Resistance they called them. Weird bunch she would have to say about them, other than being in the way and ruining everything. "Small is good for me." She said as they both walked in. A girl that worked there asked how many there were and then seated them at a medium sized booth. "I can't say that I do besides for a beer."

As we walked in we were greeted by a young girl, dressed nice and tidy. A black skirt, black heels, white blouse and a black vest. A bit overdressed for the place though in my eye's, the place looked nice enough though. It looked like some warm cozy family room, nothing static like the girls clothes. The girl escorted us to a medium sized booth, although the place wasn't empty there weren't any peeps close by.
"I'll take a beer then... for starters... lets see if there's anything interesting on the menu." as we sat down the girl handed us a menu each. As I opened the menu I occasionally glanced at Anna over the menu."Well this looks nice... Steak..."

As Anna was given a menu, she opened it up to the first page and quickly scanned through all the topics until she reached the salads. There was the chef, caesar, and some other one Anna wasn't so sure about. She decided to have a chicken caeser one in case she didn't find anything else. "Steak tends to be good depending on how its cooked." She looked at the waitress and told her she wanted a coke and some time to look over the menu. After writing down their drinks and asking which type of beer he would want, she left to go get them.

"Lets see what else they have... salads... maybe for appetizer... Oooeeooh they have spare ribs..." No John you can't go scrapping bones flesh less with a girl the table... "I guess I'll get the Steak if the cook's any good." Now that i've decided and no longer need the menu I put it down so I could gaze into Anna's eyes. "Did you decide on anything yet?"

Anna smiled a bit as she looked through the menu deciding that a salad with chicken would be the best thing to get. Though she would have to ask for the dressing on the side so that the lettuce isn't drenched with it. It always bugged her when she had tasted more dressing than the actual vegetables in a salad. "I'm already to order." She said looking up from her menu to see him looking in her eyes. She just let him do what he liked since he was only looking. The waitress can back with their drinks and set them down on the table in front of them. She asked them if they were ready to order and Anna started to order her food. "Chicken Caesar salad with the dressing on the side please." After she was done with her order, she turned her sights to John.

As the girl put the beer on the table I switched my eye to the girl "Thank you for the beer, say what do think about the chef? is he a good cook?" from the answer I got the feeling he aint that bad, but she's praising him for the restaurant. She got a bit nervous though, probably just started working here, not used to peeps actually recognize her as a human instead of a waiter with me looking in her eye's. Somehow I can read a lot from eye's, I guess its a good skill for a bouncer, to measure peeps up.
"I think I'll get the steak please. I think that will be all for now." after showing her a smile she walked away taking the menu's with her. After a few steps she turned around to see if I was still looking. I however already switched my attention back to Anna.
"So... is there someone waiting for your return? I mean, such a pretty girl should have someone she care's about."

Anna waited for him to order, her menu being neatly on the side of the table for the waitress to quickly pick up and take with her when the time came. It seemed as though John could make small talk for any occasion though Anna had only been hanging around him once before. After the waitress left, he was looking at her again and again, Anna let him. "There's no one really. I'm not really the type that goes for any kind of relationship." She had always been a loner in this world. Too shy she supposed to actually make small talk with anyone but the ones she was on a mission for. But even then there wasn't too much talking. Only trailing and finding out information by breaking and entering homes.

"well... thats a shame... for you and the world..." I guess that settle's that, with her deliberately ignoring my comments and now this, she has some sort of armor up to avoid getting close to someone... maybe something happened. I guess I'll drop it for now incase its a painful topic, maybe she'll loosen up a bit as the day progresses.
After a small uncomfortable silence I tried to get a conversation going again "So tell me, is there anything I should know in this City? and what do they call this city?" would hate to run into some sort of conflict thats raging through the city.

Anna shrugged her shoulders. She could of explained why she she wanted to, but she just wasn't in the mood to. Besides, she didn't know how he would react and didn't want him to think down to her, or joke about it. She wasn't never humorous and didn't care for jokes at all. But yet at the bar and now here he seemed to pay attention to her. She got that feeling that he was just weird, for more than one reason. "Well I suppose you live here somewhere but I have no idea of what your lifestyle was. We never got around to that kind of talking."

"Guess its to late for that kind of talking right now... or to soon I guess, depends how you look at it." Was thinking about something bigger, but listening to her answer I guess there's nothing much going on. Or its a modern day fact that no-one thinks about like a fight against the government... Nah I'll go with the first solution.
Meanwhile the waiter returned and asked Anna if she wanted her salad served with my steak. Seems like a fair judgement seeing as we only ordered one thing, and were eating together. After getting the answer to the question, she left to tell the cook. I started to take a few sips from my beer, to see if I actually liked it, which weird enough, wasn't the case. It didn't taste that bad but it just seemed like water with bubble's and a little taste to me. So put the glass down again almost untouched. I'll try a sip later and see if its any better.

"I'll consider it too late because that's just how I am." Anna said to him as she looked down to the table searching for something that would never come to be. She was always one of those people who thought the glass was always half empty instead of being full. It was depressing really. She had always proved herself wrong in training and such but she could never be cheerful about her accomplishments nor anyone else's for that matter. She always knew she was a depressing girl and right now she couldn't think of why this guy had talked to her at the bar. Here was a little more understandable to her but not by much.

Anna told the waitress that she wanted the salad when John got his steak which she couldn't believe why the girl asked. It seemed obvious to her since they only ordered that and no appetizers. It got her thinking that the waitress could never have what it takes to be in the government. She was probably supporting the Resistance in some way or another. Something that Anna wasn't liking at all. There could be Resistance people all over the city. Even John could be one of them. She didn't like it at all and wished she could identify who the leaders are to destroy the Resistance. Then everything would be easy for the government.

After strongly beating down the urge to grab her chin to make her face me I said "Nothing is ever to late... besides by the time I get my memory back, if I get it back that is, I hope I haven't made a complete jerk of my self... so you will still talk to me. So far I'm considering myself to be doing pretty well" I said with a small smile on my face for when she dared to look up from the table "considering your still at the table... having dinner with me."
She seems to have a whole lot on her shoulders and I doubt its from some ordinary job, going home tends to be relaxing. Such a young beautiful girl with such weights on her shoulders... shame really. Life at this age should be about having fun, meeting people, partying all that sort of stuff.
