Agent Briefing Room - Floor #147 Empty
PostSubject: Agent Briefing Room - Floor #147   Agent Briefing Room - Floor #147 EmptySun Nov 15, 2009 5:56 pm

Darius stood alone in one of the buildings elevators. The floor lights passed quickly as the elevator made it's way towards floor 147. His superious had ordered him to report there, to meet his new partner. The elevator stopped moving and the doors slid open. Darius slowly stepped outside and made his way towards the double doors of the briefing room. He had thought about whom they would select as his partner, as his service record was as clean as it gets, but he decided not to worry about it to much to avoid being dissapointed.

There were some sounds on the other side of the doors, probably his superiours. He opened the right door and stepped inside, the two men present averted their gaze to him. One of them looked freshly appointed, while the other was quite the veteran.

"Agent Steele reporting as ordered" he said while standing at attention. His suit resembled the business attitude he gave the people around him, while it retained a certain unique sense around him.

"Hello Agent Steele, please have a seat." the elder officer told him. At which Darius gave him a little nod and sat down at the large table. The younger officer sat down opposite of him, while the older man kept standing.

"No sense in waiting, let's start the introduction so we can get on with the briefing. Agent Kat, please come in."

A door opened on the other side of the room, and a new figure entered the room. It was a woman, a bit younger then he was, but not much. She was tall for a woman, and had an unuasual skin colour. The thing that caught Darius' attention were her eyes however, one being blue and the other green.

i had been standing in an anti chamber of to the side of the meeting room. there where quite a lot of interesting nick nacks in here and i was in the process of studying a long sword cased in glass when i herd my name.

"Agent Kat, please come in."

The doors where thick but i had extra good hearing so i herd what was said easily. i ran over to the door, composed myself as best i could and walked through with my own long sword dangling at my hip and a pair of daggers stuck through my belt at my back. i couldn't help the slight twitch of a smile the threatened to spread. i was never very good at formality. In the room there where three men. Two of them, an older gentle man still standing and a younger man who looked as if her had been pulled fresh from the crop, where wearing military garb. The other man was sitting opposite the green stick ... i liked that name, think i will use it from now on. He was wearing a black business suit.

oh wow. wonder whether this one will be any fun.

they have tried to give me partners before but i didn't like any of them. to stuck up, but this one was cute. there might be a chance for him yet.

i waved at them

"hey there all. sir, green stick, new guy."

i nodded to all as i greeted them and grinned sheepishly when the old general frowned in exasperation at me. Green stick man was going purple with anger. he was about to get up and yell at me when the general waved him down. He knew better and besides i outranked green stick man. being a super soldier as well as an agent. He was just an assistant.

i stopped half way to the desk and stood with my hands on my hips and a grin on my face.

"so, i was ordered to come here. my i ask why?"

i looked at the new person in the eyes. i already knew but i wanted to hear it from them.

The woman apparently knew how to handle the brass, but was the new guy part really necessary? He didn't know the girl, never even heard of her, but he was one of the top agents working here for quite a while now. Ignoring that fact for a while, he noticed the super soldier badge on her outfit. That explains her normally outrageous behaviour, she outrank the 'green stick', and himself for that matter.

"Ma'am" he nodded slightly.

"so, i was ordered to come here. my i ask why?"

The elder officer shook away his disbelief, and continued the briefing. Leaving his assistant mumble at the table.

"You know well enough why you're here agent, so meet your new partner, Agent Steele. Steele, this is one of the few 'super agents' we have around here, and you got lucky enough to join her team. Take care, nobody outlasted the first couple of weeks with her."

The officer glanced at Katsa, knowing he might have offended her there.

"Pleasure doing business with you ma'am" Darius said out of protocol.

"Save the acquainting for later, for now we have a new assignment ready." he handed a large envelope marked classified to Katsa, it probably contained the mission details. "There has been a large pause in resistance activity around the supers training grounds. We have reason to believe a raid will soon take place here and want you to fortify the position."

Darius was quitely listening to the officer briefing them on their mission. This was routine work and wouldn't cause him any trouble. By the looks of it Katsa thought the same.

new partner huh. Polite, i like him already. and the name Steele is cool. i grinned at him and the general as he half heartedly scolded me and began the briefing.

Steele greeted me. "Pleasure doing business with you ma'am"

i almost hugged him.

The general handed me a large envelope marked classified.

"There has been a large pause in resistance activity around the supers training grounds. We have reason to believe a raid will soon take place here and want you to fortify the position."

I read the con-tense of the folder while listening to the general speak and the assistant green stick mumble. i really did like that name. i was still smiling slightly, having far to much fun. i still had not sat down.

"right then. sounds good."

my smile slipped and i became all business . Green stick man looked slightly taken aback but the general had seen it all before and was not shocked. Steels eye widened but that was the only reaction. All forms of joking had left my face. It was now truly the face you would expect of a deadly super agent.

"do we have any idea of their possible entry roots? Also i would like a list of known rebel and there abilities. This will allow for a more complete knowledge and a better chance of stopping the raid. Also, what man do i have access to. i will need to know so that i can place them on guard accordingly. i smiled but this time it did not reach my eyes.

"Agent Steele. you will follow me. you are now my official partner. lets see if you can keep up. it is your chance to prove that you are the best of the best, after all, that i why they appointed you to me, is it not?"

we will get all you need. we have some inteligence as to their posible entry roofs but that are completely theoretical. the general turned to the now white green stick "get on the phone this instant and fetch what Katsa has requested. he turned back to me "i will assign you a runner. that will make your job a little easier.

i nodded back to him and looked at Steele "do you have any questions or input?

Katsa her expression shifted from mischievous to serious in less then a second. Darius's eyes widened in amazement, the woman showed to know what she was doing, that looked very promising.

Partner, that word alone opened a whole new book. He thought while he let his new partner speak her mind. Protocol faded away into the back alleys of his mind while Kat asked him a question.

"No that sums it up pretty good, I'll find out things on-location anyway. I could use an overhead of the area, and a detailed list on available equipment however." Being bound by pre-made plans or speculation wasn't his style anyway. Once on the location the stakes could be seen clearly, and then they would know what they were dealing with, and how to deal with it. Katsa, being a super, would probably have been on the training grounds before so the preparation would probably be minimal.

The general fetched a piece of paper fresh out the printer and handed it to Steele. "There you go son, the list will come with the rest." Giving it a quick look it showed the training facility to be a pretty large complex. Mostly outdoors, with a large facility on the west side. Two specific points seemed to be perfect entry points, a large sewer drain next to the complex which leaded into the entire pipeline maze under the city and an easily breachable fence, especially under the cover of darkness. These were not the only possibilities, but the most likely. He stared at the map a while longer, before turning back to the people inside the room.

"They will probably enter through the eastern side of the complex, but there is not guarantee for that. The building will be easily defended, but the large area around will cause some trouble."

The word 'Partner' floated back into his thoughts. His new partner was a super, and possessed powers unlike himself. He was curious enough to what those were, but he figured he'd find out soon enough. In theory their team was already a succes because it followed the most basic rule. "One of them, One of us." he muttered barely loud enough to hear. He had alot of questions for her, and he bet it was the same for his newfound partner, but they'd have to wait till later.

my serious demeanor slipped away as quickly as it had appeared. i was back to my joking personality.

"One of them, One of us." whispered Steele. it was so quiet that the general and green stick man could not of heard but it did.

i raised an eye brow at steel as i tried very hard to fight the smile that was threatening to brake across my face. "one of them, One of us indeed agent steele. there is something that you must know about me. if you do not wish me to hear what you say them i suggest that you either stick to thinking it or moving a good 2-km away from me first.

The general looked slightly uncomfortable. he cleared his throat. "ah, right. you have already guessed i assume that Agent Katsa is a super soldier as well. one of the abilities that she gained was hearing more then five times that of a normal humans. The rest, agent Katsa will tell you. he clapped his hand together "Very well agents, that concludes the briefing. Any further question will have to be done via correspondence of runners or the an arranged meeting. you are dismissed. you have a minimum of one week to prepare.

throughout his speech i stared at him with my usual amused smile. i think i made him uncomfortable. his heart was beating faster then humming birds wings and i could see tiny beads of sweat on his forehead.

"very well sir. Steele will you come with me? i want to go to the training grounds to have a closer look. i will need to show you around there to. bet you have never been there before. i grinned widely come now partner. lets go have some fun"

With that i turned about and left the room. behind me i hear the general say, "you better follow her lad. She will not wait. That girl is full of energy. Never runs out. she is going to be a hand full. The reason non of her other partners have lasted is... well... you will find out soon enough. best run now or you will loose her.

i grinned as i walked down the hall heading towards the supers training grounds. Fun indeed.

Figures she can hear alot, she did have some animal like aura around her. Not that he didn't want her to hear, it was simply the truth. Must be pretty cool to hear everything, although he could imagine it to be troublesome as well.

Katsa rushed out the door and walked straight down the hallway, showing no signs of waiting for him. "Best run now or you will lose her."

"Get a runner to take my equipment to the location, if she's that steadfast, I'll have no time to get it myself." He returned to the general, while following Kats out the door. The hallway led towards a walkway leading to the training grounds. Thankfully it was this close, his transport was out of order right now. He caught up with Katsa and followed her pace.

"I didn't expect super hearing, must be nice to have." he complimented her, while thinking he should take care with what he said out loud. Soon they arrived at the training grounds.

"I didn't expect super hearing, must be nice to have." said Steel

I turned and began walking backwards so that i could look at him. i did not trip or miss a step and i did not need to to see where i was going.

"no one ever expects super hearing. i think it is my demeanor or maybe it is the way i behave. i really don't know and they never expect me to be an agent of high rank either. that i can understand. it can be very useful but then again it can be rather annoying too."

i said all this grinning. i turned around as we arrived at the training room door. we entered.
