It all began with a trip and a laugh. The school bully picking on a younger girl.
Jackson Kendrick looked up from his lap and his eyes landed on Leigha Mitchell. She was a year younger and Jackson's favorite target. He wasn't entirely sure why he enjoyed picking on her so much, but it was his favorite past time. As she approached, a book in her hands and her mind clearly not on where she was going, an evil plot formed in the mind of the mean young boy. His leg stretched out, and before anyone could even see what was coming, Leigha tumbled to the ground, the copy of Nancy Drew flying.
Ezra Freidkin was as much a wallflower as the next kid, much preferring to stay out of the way of those around him. Even so, when he saw the act by Jackson and the tears on Leigha's face, something inside him snapped. Punches were thrown and insults were volleyed back and forth. A bloody nose and one black eye later, Leigha and Ezra both had a new best friend.

Ezra's emotional problems would take him away from Monterey High School - away from Leigha and the other friends he had. Mount Horizon, tucked away in the mountains not far from Vancouver, would be Ezra's new high school - and his new home.
Many friendship have been made - both at Horizon and at Monterey. The relationships are as intricate as the threads in an article of designer clothing, and many are just as fragile. So many lives have been intertwined in ways that they are not even aware of.
Ezra's death has come all too soon, and his friends are left in heartbreak and confusion. The authorities are ruling his death a suicide, but those who knew him best believe otherwise.
Now the classes of 2002 - both from Monterey High and Mount Horizon - are coming home, setting aside their differences, and banding together to uncover the truth. Will they solve the mystery? Is there even a mystery to solve? Sooner or later, the truth will be uncovered. Then and only then will everyone see how God can take the tragedy, and find a way to have
